Halloween night at 8 p.m., Spirit opens its doors for TIRIPS REDRUM, the 11th annual, full-building Halloween party and costume contest. Prepare for a night of music, madness, and mayhem at one of Pittsburgh’s biggest Halloween parties and one of Spirit’s iconic annual events.

As an ode to Stanley Kubrick’s classic The Shining, Spirit has tapped local artist and designer Thommy Conroy to transform its cavernous space into the opulent Overlook Hotel, where the glitz and glamour of days past meet terror lurking around every corner. Patrons are invited to go full Johnny, ax in hand; indulge in specialty snowballs crafted by artist Laurie Trok; have a questionable encounter with sinister bartenders, compete for prizes in Spirit’s classic costume contest hosted by the Moon Baby as Mrs. Torrance - screaming for her life; and dance the night away to the sounds of Detroit’s famed DJ Minx.

The night will feature:

  • Ax throwing onsite for those who know how to make an entrance.

  • Neon De Facto reinterpreting the haunting score of The Shining.

  • Slow Danger begs you to come play with them in a nightmare-fueled dance performance.

  • Live music in the Lodge, transformed into a frozen snowdrift, featuring local favorites Astrology Now, Glass Caps, Dream The Heavy, Lowsunday, The Femaliens, and Buscrates.

  • Dance Party in the Gold Room, as the Hall becomes the Overlook’s never ending party destination, with music by Teen Wolf Too B2B Brotha Mike, followed by Detroit’s own DJ Minx closing out the night.

  • Specialty boozy snow cone vending by performance artist Laurie Trok

  • An outdoor maze lounge, offering an escape, if you leave no tracks.

  • Spirit’s 11th annual costume contest, hosted by everyone’s favorite diva The Moon Baby. Judges will circulate throughout both floors of the party from 8:30–10:30 to identify finalists.  The costume contest finale begins at 11:40 p.m. The crowd will choose winners for Best Costume and Best Group Costume.

Costume contest prizes include $500 cash, Spirit’s Golden Ticket (a year of free admission to Spirit shows), and a pizza party made possible by Bacardi.

From the frozen corridors of the Overlook to the decadence of the Gold Room, TIRIPS REDRUM takes over the entire building for one of Spirit’s biggest nights of the year. Come dressed to impress, prepare for the unexpected, and remember: all work and no play makes for a very dull Halloween.
