Featured DJs:

DJ Econ

Born and raised in Santa Monica California, DJ Econ studied acoustic bass and drums before picking up turntables at the age of fourteen. As a teenager in the early nineties during the hey day of the west coast's rave scene and hip-hip's golden era, he made a name for himself both as a DJ backing rap groups, as well as a dance music DJ at many of southern California's raves and underground venues. From there his taste in dance music’s diverse styles lead to New York City and to music production. In 1999 he helped found the record label Public Works along with label mates Eight Sense and Bravo of The Illegibles. Throughout his more than 20 years DJing in the New York scene, he has been a fixture at dance and avant-garde music spaces in NYC, including lengthy residencies at Manhattan’s IC Guys, The Cock, and B-bar, as well as Brooklyn’s North 6th, The Wreck Room, and Metropolitan Bar. He has DJed alongside such notable musicians as Dilated Peoples, Phife Dawg of Tribe Called Quest, Maseo of De La Soul, Garth, Adam X, Analog Soul, Tribe 8, Le Tigre, Lou Reed, Will Sheridan, Mr. Wallace, Kendra Morris, Trans-Am, and many more. He is currently the resident DJ at Hot Fruit at Metropolitan bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn for over four years running, as well as at the irregular underground Brooklyn warehouse party Psychic. New music from Econ is scheduled for release on Public Works Records in 2018
