Usually when one retires from a job they are over 65 years old, ready to cash in that Social Security and move to Florida. Or, you’re a 30 something NFL running back who wants to save his brain from further damage.

I’m far from 65, I’ll die here in Pittsburgh and despite my buff physique , I’m not an NFL running back. (Though I am strait off the block.) 

I recently accepted a job as the Events Manager at Ace Hotel. This new position will not allow for me to continue actively producing Down & Derby Roller Disco, or our sister production, Monster Trike Night.  

It was always my goal to pass the Down & Derby torch before, or on, our 10-year anniversary. With 7 months until the 10-year, the timing couldn’t have been any more perfect.

The miles of smiles that have skated Down & Derby is what the party is all about. So maybe I won’t be at every Down & Derby handing you your skates or doing high kicks as Eddie Van Haulin at Monster Trike Night, but nothing else will really change. We will still be asking you to skate, drink, dance, make regrettable decisions, and dress goofy.

Down & Derby will still take place once a month @ Spirit and eventually back home at Belvederes. I will be bringing on a new manager to keep the party going. If I’m lucky I’ll get a Saturday off & come rage with all you party animals! 

Until then, come join me Saturday, November 7th for Down & Derby Roller Disco @ Spirit Hall. Wear your shortest shorts and let’s couple skate. I’ll request some R.Kelly.
